During my late teens/early twenties i spent much of my time painting. Paining ‘From the Source’ was my main outlet for emotional expression- it was through this process that i was able to give voice to emotion and feeling that had been numbed for many years. I began painting with the mindset of doing it for the sake of the process without any idea of the end result- this allowed me the freedom i required to express from deep within rather than wanting to create a specific end product. I later came across a book called “Painting From the Source” which explained a very similar process to what i as already doing!
The surface and techniques that i used were also quite unique. I painting on glass and used the technique of ’reverse glass painting’ where i would hold the glass up and paint behind it where the foreground was applied before the background (as opposed to painting on canvas where the background is painted first). I was living with my sister around this time and she was very tired of me bringing home countless pieces of glass id found or bought from garage sales!! have a go its great fun!!
I havent painted in over 10 years as dance has taken me! I think i would like to dedicate an entire lifetime to painting! Thats if i come back.
